Athan's a strange duck. Originally born in the Shadow of QIV (pronounced key), an animalistic place of savage laws, he wasn't aware of his true Chaos nature, or that his beastial form was not that which his forefathers wore. It wasn't until his greatest antagonist/would-be-lover, Demon Re, contacted him via Trump that he knew anything other than his narrow existance at all. Indeed, he still sees QIV as the center of things, not Chaos.
Of course, now he's been charged by Suhuy and Her Holiness, Matrka Yerau Amblerash, to fight the Logrus madness he never shook from his initiation, and to head out into Shadow on a strange mission he doesn't understand. At least it looks like he'll get to beat things up.

Like most creatures in QIV, Athan is a Shape Shifter, and as Suhuy revealed to (or rather, reminded) him, he's also a Logrus Master. The trick now is to get it all under control, and maybe his memories back in the meantime.
